The awkward geometry of a warming oblate spheroid

‘The awkward geometry of a warming oblate spheroid’ is about climate change. The oblate spheroid is, of course, the Planet Earth. The movement through the various forms in this sequence of poems can be interpreted to echo the disruption caused by catastrophic climate events, as the shape changes from the formal and lyrical, to free verse, concrete poetry, and ultimately a parody of all that has been lost.

Interview

Read the interview with the author at Sentinel Literary Quarterly.

"Unfortunately, the concept of a poet is often of someone who is altogether too self-absorbed, too limply detached from reality. Nevertheless, I feel that the poet as a wordsmith philosopher, as an expresser of truths, does still have a potentially important role to play in today’s world. If I am to be a poet, though, I feel the honour of that label should be bestowed by others, not claimed by me as a job title."
